More than a hundred dogs and their owners showed up at Wentworth Park on a beautiful Saturday (June 4) to take part in the Garfield Ridge Chamber of Commerce's annual pet parade 🐶.

The Southwest Chicago Post was there with a camera. Here are a handful of photos we took, along with a few from others at the event.

Thank you to Garfield Ridge Chamber of Commerce President Mary Ellen Brown and her sturdy crew of dedicated volunteers for once again staging a fun public event. The GRCC and its members continue to show the value of a vibrant, neighborhood-based business community. Please remember that next time you need to go shopping for goods or services. 😀

Ald. Tabares Hosting Paper Shredding, Med Take-Back Event at Byrne School

Looking to get rid of unwanted yet sensitive documents (like old

utility bills, medical records, tax returns, Social Security/pension statements, etc.)?

Looking to get rid of unwanted, outdated prescription drugs?

Then make plans to head over to Byrne School, 54th and Oak Park, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4--where 23rd Ward Alderman Silvana Tabares will host a shred/drug take-back event.

The prescription drug take-back is sponsored by the Cook County Sheriff's Office.

Meds should be in their original containers or a sealed plastic bag. Not accepted are liquid meds, anything in an aerosol container, medical waste (including used gloves, masks, syringes, needles, lancets, tubing, IV bags) and illegal drugs.

Volunteers will not accept any electronics at this event.

Additionally, staff from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation district will be on hand to give away tree saplings and bags of mulch, while supplies last.
