This is considered a historic election, because it marks the transition to a fully elected Chicago Board of Education President and Board Members. Other offices being decided are U.S. Senator and U.S. Representatives; Illinois offices for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer, State Senators and State Representatives; several referenda and more. Chicago voters may vote at any Early Voting location,

regardless of where they live in the city. All Early Voting locations are ADA-compliant and accessible to voters with disabilities. Voter registration and voter information updates are available during in-person Early Voting in all 50 Wards, as well as on Election Day Voting on November 3.

Voters registering or updating their registration in person should check for current identification requirements at chicagoelections.gov.

Next: Make a Plan to Vote
Chicago voters can choose these alternative ways to vote:

• Election Day Voting: On Tuesday, November 3, all 1,291 precinct polling places across Chicago's 50 Wards will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

• Vote By Mail: Chicago voters have until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026, to fill out an application to request a Vote By Mail ballot. Vote By Mail ballots must be postmarked by the close of Election Day on November 3, 2026, and returned to the Chicago Board of Elections. If voters choose not to return their ballot through the U.S. Postal Service, we will ensure their votes will be counted by instead returning their sealed and certified VBM ballot envelopes in drop boxes managed by the Chicago Board of Elections located throughout the city.
