Charge Two in Slaying of Teenage Boy

man have been charged with murder in the Feb. 26 slaying of a 16-year-old boy in the 6300 block of South Richmond.

Jesus Moro, of the 6200 block of South Parkside, and Sergio Rodriguez, of the 6300 block of South Richmond, allegedly gunned down Julian Castillo.

Police said Castillo was visiting a friend in the area when he was accosted by Moro and Rodriguez, who reportedly punched him and chased him out of an apartment building before

 shooting him multiple times, at about 8:45 p.m.

Castillo was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to a law enforcement source, Moro and Rodriguez are gang members, as was Castillo.

Minutes after the slaying, Moro was spotted in a parked car and apprehended. Rodriguez was placed in custody after police found him in a nearby apartment.

Both are due in Bond Court on March 1.

According to public records, Moro has been arrested eight times by CPD since 2017. Rodriguez has been arrested three times since 2018.
