CPD Issues Burglary Alerts for West Lawn, Archer Heights Neighborhoods

The crimes described below are not news to Southwest Chicago Post readers. We've already reported just about all of them.

What is new is that CPD issued an alert about them today.

Let's all keep our eyes and ears open and watch out for each other. See or hear something suspicious? Call 911 promptly and let police investigate.

008th District

About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens residing in the 008th District (Chicago Lawn) of burglary related incidents during the month ofMarch.  In these incidents, offender(s) make entry into residences and garages by means of a pry tool and take items from therein.  These incidents have occurred at various hours of the day in the general geographical locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:
3900 Block of W. 69th Pl. on March 4, 2014 during the daytime hours.
3900 Block of W. 68th Pl. on March 8, 2014 during the early morning hours.
6900 Block of S. Karlov Ave. on March 11, 2014 during the daytime hours.
3800 Block of W. 68th St. on March 13, 2014 during the daytime hours.
6800 Block of S. Karlov Ave. on March 17, 2014 during the daytime hours.

What you can do:
  • Keep the perimeter of your property well lit
  • Report suspicious activity immediately
  • Keep doors and windows secured
  • Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks
  • If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for investigating detectives.
  • If you are a victim do not touch anything, call police immediately
  • If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information

Incident times and locations:
4700 Block of S. Kildare Ave. on March 9, 2014 during the overnight hours.
4600 Block of S. Keeler Ave. on March 12, 2014 during the evening hours.
4700 Block of S. Tripp Ave. on March 18, 2014 during the overnight hours.
4700 Block of S. Tripp Ave. on March 18, 2014 during the overnight hours.


What you can do:
