CPD Burglary Alert: Garfield Ridge

At 2:31 p.m. Thursday, July 30, Chicago Police issued a community alert relating to three burglaries that occurred earlier this month in the west end of Garfield Ridge.

In each incident, the burglar(s) broken into a home or garage through a side or back door.

Police did disclose what, if anything, had been stolen.

Incident times and locations:

5500 block of South Normandy at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 11.

5300 block of South Natchez at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17.

5600 block of South New England at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday, July 21.

What you can do:

• Keep the perimeter of your property well lit.
• Report suspicious activity immediately.
• Keep doors and windows secured.
• Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.
• If video surveillance is available, save and make a copy of the incident for
investigating detectives.
• Make an agreement with your neighbors to watch each other's homes for suspicious
activity.
• If you are a victim, do not touch anything, and call police immediately.
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.

  1. Coincidentally, I received the following e-mail message from my block leader (58th & Natchez) the other day:

    Subject: Suspicious truck

    ALERT:
    Green Chevy Tahoe with 1 black door driven by 2 male Hispanics who are wanted in connection with burglaries, last seen Friday driving down alleys in beat 811.
    Call 911 immediately with a description and an accurate location, if seen.
