Burke Offers Free Paper Shredding, Electronics Recycling Services

Looking to get rid of unwanted yet sensitive documents (like old utility bills, tax returns, Social Security/pension statements, etc.)?

Bring your unwanted paper documents to Highlanders Hall, 4808 S. Archer,  from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6. (Papers must be loose, with no staples or binders.)

Looking to get rid of unwanted electronics (like old radios, computers, printers and appliances)?

Bring your unwanted electronics to to Highlanders Hall, 4808 S. Archer,  from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6. All electronics accepted, except TVs.

At both events, you are required to wear a mask and remain in your vehicle. Volunteers wearing masks will remove the items from your vehicle.

Also at the event, you are welcome to drop off any outdated and/or unused prescription medications. They will be collected and safely disposed of, a service offered by Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart. This matters, because meds thrown in the garbage or flushed down the toilet may harm the environment.

Finally, free flu shots will be available at this event. If you have a Medicare card, please bring it with you.

And thanks to Alderman Burke for providing this useful public service!
