Police Warn of Armed Robbers

Chicago Police sounded a note of caution today for Ashburn, Scottsdale and West Lawn residents, in the wake of a cluster of armed robberies that occurred in recent weeks.

Crime scenes included:

• 7700 block of South Kolmar on Sunday, October 11 at 6:49 p.m.
• 8600 block of South Kedvale on Thursday, October 15 at 7:45 p.m.
• 3700 block of West 77th Place on Thursday, October 15 at 7:55 p.m.
• 7100 block of South Springfield on Thursday, October 15 at 8:05 p.m.
• 3800 block of West 81st Place on Tuesday, October 20 at 4:48 p.m.
• 7100 Block of South Homan on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:10 p.m.

The thugs were described as one to four black boys or men ages 14-24, 5-foot-7 to 6-foot-1, 145-170 pounds.

Those with useful information to share about the crimes are encouraged to call CPD Area 1 detectives at (312) 747-8380
and refer to crime pattern P20-1-272.

In the wake of the crimes, police advise:

• Always be aware of your surroundings.
• Report suspicious activity immediately.
• If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm.
• Remember any unique physical characteristics about the offender (such as scars, limp, acne, teeth).
• Never pursue a fleeing assailant; instead, provide the information to the police.
• If video surveillance equipment is present, save a copy of the incident for investigating detectives.
• If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.
• Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible.
