Streets and San Responds Swiftly, Efficiently to Remove Decaying Tree

Less than 24 hours after it was reported to 311, a storm-damaged and potentially dangerous dead tree near 56th and Austin was removed by crews from the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation.

The situation was the subject of a story posted yesterday on the Southwest Chicago Post website. Heavy rain and high wind had combined to blow the decaying tree's bark into the street.

Arriving well before 9:00 a.m., the crews worked swiftly and efficiently, with minimal disruption of traffic on Austin.
