More Public Housing at Vacant LeClaire Site or Something Else? CHA Seeks Ideas

We just spotted this on the CHA website.

Interestingly, they do not appear to have notified any neighborhood news media about this.

If you have ideas on what should be built (or not) at the vacant LeClaire Courts site, here is your chance to contribute to the discussion.

  3. Its close to the airport, bring in some high end homes back to the city. Midway area needs some cleaning up to do. Maybe shopping on the first floor, some higher end condos on the second/third levels. Kind of like the GLEN.

  4. A Whole Foods; trailhead facilities like bathrooms, bicycle racks; parking for suburban commuters to leave there bikes and jump on a bicycle to continue their commute to DT and spend some of their $$ in our community; a canoe, kayak & non-motorized boat launch (we SW siders are also allowed to enjoy the Chicago Area Waterway Systems - CAWS too); a historical sign explaining what the I&M is/was as well as the significance behind our very own continental divide (OK, our itty bitty watershed divide, but still!) and a solar-powered sign inviting everyone, even those of us that forget how to ride a bicycle (politicians too), to the Chicago SKI-WAY. Any more questions? Oh, and a butterfly garden. - Chester
